Laura and Aidan - Effortlessly Stylish and Fun wedding at Castillo de Tamarit

Happy first wedding anniversary to these guys!

True to form, another year has gone by before I get down to blogging one of my favourite weddings from last year, Laura and Aidan - a pair of absolute wedding legends in my eyes!

THE BACK STORY

As is often the case with people who appreciate my wedding work, these guys love to travel and actually met travelling in Byron Bay, Australia. Fast forward a bit via two years together in Melbourne, camping all around around Aus, NZ, travels in Japan and then on to London for three years where Aidan proposed on the deck of the Tate Modern,(Yep that is a cool place to propose!) before finally heading back home to Ireland last year.

Having travelled halfway around the world it only seemed fitting that they were to have a destination wedding in the Castillo de Tamarit (Tamarit Castle)

THE VENUE

Castillo de Tamarit is a venue right on the coast of Tarragona. You can’t get completely ready at the castle but you can come over to do the finishing touches there which is wonderful as every room has such a spectacular view of the sea that the final moments of getting ready are just gorgeous. The venue has some of the best locations for couple shoots and for couples wanting a church ceremony, it has a tiny, incredibly atmospheric church which was built in the eleventh century, with an amazing watchtower and village built just to protect it. It is super cute as well as beautifully candlelit.

Castillo de Tamarit is such a majestic place, i mean its a castle so it doesn’t get much more magical than that!

MR AND MRS

Laura and Aidan were the coolest, most laid back, fun couple. They were all about having a good time and had an effortless style, the kind of style you can only have without trying. Laid back fun couples tend to have mates with the same qualities so as you can imagine the whole wedding party and huge Irish family was just hilarious and so much fun. This is always such a bonus for me, I am all about capturing those big expressions and I really didn’t have to look far on this occasion.!

THE ATTIRE

I loved Luara’s “divine Ateliar” dress , she said it was the first one she saw, perfect for her swishy sassy bob and importantly a dress that she could move in, this girl has moves! Aidan had a lovely wool suit , again a bit different from the norm which was from the Italian label Brian Dales.

THE DAY

The church ceremony was followed by a general big hug fest and then a pretty long, actually very long line of happy confetti throwers , then Appero for the wedding party while we sneaked off to take gloriously windswept and romantic pics on the rocks with the castle in the background. We even managed to sneak another couple shoot in on the way to dinner just because we couldn’t get enough of the stunning views!

I absolutely loved the whole family and had so many laughs with them over the course of the day. When you’re faced with a huge Irish family you’ve got to make the group shots fun and there is no doubt that we definitely did that! the group pogo shot is proof!

THE WOMEN

Ok so this was a wedding that had a ton of fab women in attendance.Aidan’s best man or ‘best woman’ was his sister( absolutely love that! beautiful gesture) and so great to see all the ladies being strongly represented with Laura kicking off the off the speeches, followed by her mum, the groom’s mum and the female best man., all power to the female we say!

Top tips from this one!

1. This wedding was a perfect example of absolutely doing you on your wedding day, the images say it all pure joy!

2. Spacious timelines rule! leave plenty of time to relax with friends and family in between the big events on the timeline.

3. A tip from the bride herself - look out for sample sales for your dresses and even grooms suits! they got themsleves some bargains.

Enjoy a good scroll through the pics and you will find all vendors at the bottom of the post along with some kind words from Laura about her experience of having me photograph the day.

“Thank you so much for all our beautiful photos we literally have loved going through them and reliving the day!

You captured all the fun on the day and made everyone at ease which is an even harder job! We’ve had 4 family weddings in the last few years with all my older sisters and none of their photographers compared!!  you really are such a lovely person to have around on the day!

Seriously couldn’t recommend you enough!”
