Emily and Patrick would perhaps describe themselves as the most camera shy couple in the world, fly on the wall documentary style coverage of there day was what they had in mind and Weddings via val knew that would be right up my street ! After some chatting I encouraged them to have a little pre wedding couple shoot while spending a morning exploring Sitges so I could prove to them that having your picture taken can be ok ,and as often happens they were surprised that its not that bad! With that little preparation we were all set for an amazing wedding day.

This was a 3 venue wedding, getting ready in the newly renovated Hotel Casa Vilella then onto the lovely Sitges church for a of traditional Catholic Ceremony, and finally ending up at the breathtakingly gorgeous Xalet del Nin.
Hotel Casa Vilella is a beautifully renovated nineteenth century style villa right on the seafront in Sitges and proved to be a great spot for getting ready because of its stunning location – you could not get any closer to the sea if you tried! The views of the sea are fabulous from all the bedrooms and even better from the gorgeously atmospheric living room style space they have created with its very own terrace (great setting for some final pics before shooting off to the ceremony!). Its Very handy if you are thinking of getting married in the Sitges church and gives guests the option of a lovely beachside walk along the promenade to get there.
Getting ready involved lots of hustle and bustle with many elegant bridesmaids alongside some hilarious banter with the groomsmen. The best man seemed to be making a massive effort to smell as fresh as possible until all was revealed that there had been an incident with some mouthwash in his suitcase which had completely soaked his waistcoat and bowtie! Nothing a few jokes and a hairdryer couldn’t fix and the lads were all back to “looking very daper”.
From here it was a quick dash to the next location Sitges church – Emily traveled in absolute style in an old school rolls Royce and disembarked looking such a beauty with the most epic veil – mega in length and design complimenting her dress perfectly. The ceremony included a moving singing performance from Emily’s brother in law. There was a fabulous confetti moment ( brides you can not have too much confetti) as the newly weds gracefully exited the church and were met and congratulated not only by their own wedding gang but also with a huge cheer from the locals standing around the church.
Before jumping back in the Rolls Royce, we decided to made the most of a performance happening right next to the church. A big group of local children were dancing away and playing music in preparation for the Santa Tecla festival ,one of the biggest firework festivals marking the closing of the summer. An absolute photo gold moment watching the sheer joy on Emily and Patrick s faces as the little drummers and tambourine players played and danced especially for them to show their congrats. THE BEST MOMENTS ARE THE UNPLANNED MOMENTS.
Xalet del Nin
For the last destination of the day it was over to Xalet del Nin, an incredible and newly renovated venue that everyone is excited about! It has amazing architecture, astonishing sea views situated on the beautiful beach of Vilanova I La Geltru. The views surround the appetizer area and the dining area and the outside is landscaped beautifully with a feature waterfall beside which Emily and Patrick had chosen to have The summer Lovers Band playing there great fusion of swing and jazz.
The back drop of the main house gave us a perfect frame for the family group shots which are often very important for big Irish Family weddings, as much as I love candid and reportage style photography I fully understand how important these family shots are and I actually do really enjoy the fun we have creating them.
SUNDOWNER
As the sun went down guests were guided into the dining area, beautiful white tablescapes with with fairy lights garlands and candles. Gorgeous centre pieces really quiet a magical set up, followed by a first dance on the front porch and everyone inside and on the dance floor for the rest of the evening.The day was beautifully executed by weddings via val.
